The first-generation KLR 650 was a long-running single-cylinder dual-purpose bike built for trail riding and touring, with a DOHC four-valve engine and 230 mm of suspension travel. This 1989-90 entry is a standard road-legal version of that design. Its spec page lists max power twice (48 hp at 6500 rpm and 41.7 hp at 7100 rpm); the 48 hp figure is used here.
